The Morals of Pop Culture

What theories seem to apply to your popular culture topic?
Taking a lesson from popular culture is important.  These lessons shape the way we live our lives, and how we interact with other people, whether we know they have influenced us in this way or not.  It seems like many people use icons from popular culture and shape themselves from this.  This can be seen by some people who tell a young girl who loves a particular princess “that’s not how a princess acts”, I have seen this many times, and often the little girl will show a desperate attempt to correct any misbehavior.

How do these theories describe, analyze or evaluate the topic you have selected?
Many people have aspirations that stem from a particular popular culture icon.  A musician has an influential band, singer or instrumentalist, a painter has a favorite artist that they use for inspiration, this also applies to someone who wants to start their own business, a person may look up to someone like Bill Gates, and use some of his techniques to create a successful business model.

What insights do you gain from applying these theories to your popular culture topic?
By applying the idea of an icon, a person can look at a piece of popular culture and use that to have a positive influence on their life.  This then could help the person lead to becoming an icon of popular culture.  Listening to interviews with musicians in particular, they will often say that a particular pop culture icon influenced them to begin playing music, and now they have become a cultural icon and potentially they are influencing someone who will become a pop culture icon in the coming years.
